Electrode Consumption Calculator

E6013. Tell it the joint and the metres. It tells you the kilograms.

How this is worked out

Fillet: cross-section z² / 2 for leg z, plus 10 % for the convex cap real welds carry.

Single-V butt (60° included, 2 mm root gap): t² · tan 30° + 2t mm², plus 10 % reinforcement.

Square butt: t × 2 mm gap, plus 10 %.

Weld metal weight uses steel at 7.85 g/cm³. Electrode weight is that divided by a 65 % deposition efficiency, which is what E6013 actually returns once stub ends, coating and spatter are counted. Quoting from deposited weight alone is the classic way to under-order by a third.

Piece counts use nominal pieces-per-kilogram and vary a little by batch.
